Strategic meeting in Pelotas, Brazil

In order to offer European companies a complete service package, CiNNAMED visited the city of Pelotas in the very South of Brazil in the state Rio Grande do Sul. As one of the most southern city of the country, Pelotas has one of the strategically best positions to the whole MERCOSUL market (Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela). Aside from a very strong economy, Pelotas also offers one of the biggest and most modern ports in Brazil.

Keynote at the Innovation Congress for Healthcare Materials and Equipments (CIMES)

Tobias gave the keynote at the „Congresso de Inovação em Materiais e Equipamentos para Saúde“ (CIMES) for the ABIMO Association. Founded in 1962, ABIMO (Brazilian Association of Industries of Medical, Dental, Hospital and Laboratory Equipment) offers support to the health production chain. Through boards and work groups, the entity is responsible for all technical, operational and associative aspects of the segment. After all, a united industry gains more representativeness, becoming stronger and more competitive. Today, the association represents more than 330 companies nationally and internationally, and the companies associated with ABIMO are responsible for about 90% of sales in the Brazilian industry.

The topic of the keynote was Healthcare 4.0 – How does the Industry 4.0 affet the health sector and what does this mean for the relationship between patients, hospitals and insurance companies?

Medical Valley Brazil booth at Hospitalar

Today, the Cluster da Saúde RS has over 500 registered participants that come from industrial, scientific, medical and economic professions. The management board organizes regular meetings and keeps close contact to the partner cluster in Germany. An intense exchange between companies and universities between Brazil and Germany bring new economic opportunities and scientific collaborations. An example is the participation at international fairs. In November 2017, there were two simultaneous fairs in Germany and Brazil – the world’s largest fair for Health, MEDICA in Düsseldorf where 20 companies from the Brazilian cluster have participated and the Econtro Economico Brasil Alemanha (EEBA) in Porto Alegre where another 12 companies from RGS have demonstrated their products. Working together as a group and showing a collaborative infrastructure gives the Cluster da Saude a very good standing and a high credibility. Changing the mentality of the partners in Brazil to a transparent and very collaborative behavior was probably the biggest challenge but shows some great results today.

Opening of the Hospitalar in Sao Paulo

During the opening ceremony of the Hospitalar, the most important show in the healthcare sector in the Americas. It provides the ideal platform to launch products and present innovations, solutions and services for hospitals, laboratories, drugstores, private practices and clinics.

Keynote at International Congress of Health Services

Tobias was the keynote speaker at the „Congresso Internacional de Serviços de Saúde“ (International Congress on Health Services) at the Hospitalar Fair in Sao Paulo. He spoke about structures and strategies of a cluster in the field of healthcare technology and its advantages regarding R&D projects between Germany and Brazil and market opportunities for both sides.
